Miro Manufacturing Expands, Invests in Servo Press Technology

Miro Manufacturing has acquired property and a facility located less than a mile from its main campus to serve as the company's Fabrication & Assembly Center. The addition provides the company with over 60,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space.

Miro's fabrication services include laser and waterjet cutting, forming and welding. Assembly services vary from simple two-part sub-assemblies to complete product assembly. "The expansion of these operations accommodates what today's customer is looking for-a partner to provide multiple, complementary services empowering them to reduce their supply chain," said a company spokesperson.

Furthermore, Miro recently announced the addition of Komatsu H2W300 330 ton servo press outfitted with a CWP ServoMax 36" feed line to enhance its metal stamping operation. Its battery of presses ranges from 60 to 1,000 tons.

A Komatsu servo press is a complete integrated press system that utilizes technology to improve the entire stamping process. "There are three key differences between servo and mechanical presses - accuracy, repeatability and power," said the spokesperson. Stroke, slide motion, slide position and speed are all programmable and adjustable.

Servo presses enhance productivity by 1) optimizing the speed at which a die can be run, 2) their ability to dwell for processes such as in die tapping and part or fastener insertion and 3) increased die life. Servo presses decrease production costs by minimizing material usage and lowering tooling costs since more work can be done in fewer stations and with reduced press maintenance and energy costs.

Miro, a diversified contract manufacturer, also offers fabrication, machining and assembly services, all of which are supported by a full-service on-site tool room. The company partners with customers from product design through the manufacturing of parts, sub-assemblies and complete products.
