Control Cables Certified for Oil Res II Usage

HELUKABEL, a cable manufacturer, has announced that its TRAYCONTROL 600 and TRAYCONTROL 600-C control cable products have passed the Underwriter's Laboratory (UL) Oil Resistance II test. Both cables now have Oil Res I and II ratings making them suited for applications where cables are exposed to oil and excessive temperatures for long durations.

Oil combined with other degradation mechanisms, such as temperature, can cause significant damage to cables over time and shorten their life. To pass the UL's Oil Resistance II test, samples of HELUKABEL's TRAYCONTROL 600 and TRAYCONTROL 600-C had to maintain 65% of their tensile and elongation properties after being immersed in oil for 60 consecutive days at a temperature of 167 °F (75 °C). Cables also underwent observation in order to determine if any physical damage, caused by oil exposure at elevated temperatures, had occurred. After testing, the specially formulated PVC jacket passed the necessary requirements when compared to pre-tested samples.

The unshielded TRAYCONTROL 600 and shielded TRAYCONTROL 600-C are HELUKABEL's UL/CSA-approved, flexible control cables that are tray cable exposed run (TC-ER) rated for 600V and wind turbine tray cable (WTTC) rated for 1000V applications. They are suited for use in machine tool and plant construction in damp, dry and humid environments. Additionally, cables that have both NFPA 79 and Oil Res II approvals are utilized in such industrial applications as automotive manufacturing.
