Okamoto Corporation debuted the company's new PRO+ Lifecyle Services program at IMTS 2026. Celebrating 100 years of grinding innovations, the company will showcase surface, rotary, and cylindrical grinders offering rigidity, flexibility, and reliability. They are available with upgraded controls, added functionality, and conversational software.
PRO+ is part of Okamoto's focus on further expanding value-added service support. For customers, the initiative encompasses preventive maintenance, extended warranty coverage, machine calibration, advanced test grinds and time studies, operator training, consumables & wear parts, process development, and upgrades and retrofits.
On the grinding technology side, Okamoto's ACC-818SA-iQ CNC surface grinder is engineered for manufacturers seeking higher precision, improved functionality, and simplified operation in a compact footprint. Combining Okamoto's double-V hand-scraped guideways and mechanical rigidity with the next-generation SA-iQ conversational control, the machine offers enhanced grinding performance, ease of use, versatility, and performance dependability, the company reported.
"The ACC-818SA-iQ features a heavy-duty Meehanite cast iron base, robust slide assemblies, and premium-grade components throughout," said a company spokesperson. "All sliding surfaces are hand-scraped to ensure optimal straightness, long-term accuracy, and superior vibration damping."
Okamoto's iQ software simplifies the ACC-818SA-iQ's operation with an intuitive conversational interface. Even complex grinding cycles can be configured quickly by following on-screen prompts, reducing the need for G-code programming. By the use of conversational programming, operators simply enter key parameters such as stock removal, dressing conditions, and multistep sequences in just a few steps, enabling consistent, high-precision results with minimal training, noted the company.
Also equipped with iQ conversational control, the PRG-iQ Precision Rotary Surface Grinder offers stable, repeatable precision for high-mix production and dedicated process environments. The machine, built on Okamoto's high-rigidity column structure, is engineered for high-accuracy surface grinding with rigidity, intuitive operation, and process stability.
The PRG-iQ Series is offered in 24", 32", and even larger sizes to support a wide range of part dimensions and production needs. Its rigid rotary table and precision wheel-head maintain accuracy during heavy stock removal and fine finishing. The machine's robust construction minimizes thermal displacement, enabling consistent flatness and parallelism.
The OGM-UNC Series CNC Cylindrical Grinder is engineered for precision external grinding with rigidity, flexibility, and long-term reliability. Built on Meehanite cast iron bases, the series offers stable, repeatable accuracy, and is available in swing sizes from 8" to 12" and center distances of 20" to 60".
The OGM-UNC Series features precision wheel heads designed for OD and face grinding operations. Equipped with double-V hand-scraped guideways giving better support to oppose the grinding force of the wheel to part, the solid construction and smooth spindle rotations enable efficient stock removal while maintaining high accuracy. Various wheel head configurations are available to support diverse part geometries and production requirements.
