Campro USA is expanding its 5-axis machining center lineup with the introduction of the new CPV-320 and CPV-400 5-axis VMCs, bringing advanced 5-axis capability to job shops at an economical price point, the company reported.
"The CPV-320 and CPV-400 join Campro USA's existing family of five 5-axis machining centers, providing manufacturers with a more accessible entry point into 5-axis machining without sacrificing the equipment, control technology, or flexibility required for demanding production environments," said a company spokesperson.
Both models feature travels of 42" in X, 20.9" in Y, and 30.7" in Z, providing substantial working capacity for a machine in this class. Maximum workpiece size on the CPV-400 is 26.7" diameter, with a distance of 17.7" from the platter to the spindle nose.
The primary difference between the two models is the trunnion platter diameter. The CPV-320 features a 320 mm platter, while the CPV-400 features a larger 400 mm platter, allowing shops to select the configuration that best matches their workpiece and fixturing requirements.
At the center of both machines is a FANUC 31i-M 5-axis CNC control, providing the processing capability and control functionality required for complex multi-axis machining. Standard equipment also includes 290 PSI through-spindle coolant, chip conveyor, dedicated spindle chiller, and Renishaw probing system.
"These standard features make the CPV-320 and CPV-400 production-ready while reducing the need for shops to add commonly required options after purchase," noted the spokesperson.
A key feature of the new CPV platform is its versatility. The trunnion table can be removed, allowing either machine to operate as a traditional 3-axis VMC using the 41.3" x 20.9" table that the trunnion is mounted on. This gives job shops the ability to use the same machine for complex 5-axis components as well as larger or more conventional 3-axis work as production requirements change.
For job shops, that flexibility can be especially valuable. Investing in 5-axis technology can reduce set-ups, minimize part handling, improve access to complex features, and allow more operations to be completed in a single machine. At the same time, the removable trunnion helps prevent the machine from being limited exclusively to 5-axis work.
"With a price of $165,000 or $179,000, the CPV-320 and CPV-400 are designed to lower the financial barrier to 5-axis machining while delivering the capacity, standard equipment, and flexibility needed for everyday production," said the spokesperson.
The new models expand Campro USA's 5-axis portfolio to seven machines, giving manufacturers a broader range of options for matching machine capability and investment level to their production requirements.
