Self-Activating Bar Pull System

Dunham Tool offers a line of bar pullers for use with CNC lathe and gang tool applications. Made in the USA, the lightweight Dunham Bar Pull system has no moving parts, mounts in 60 seconds (with Dunham Gripper changeovers in about 30 seconds), and does not interfere with other tools on the machine turret or gang tool table.

These self-activating grippers are slotted like standard collets, and as they advance over the bar to be pulled they are forced open to firmly grasp the bar for pulling out of the spindle to a programmed length. Requiring only 1/4" of bar stock engagement, the Dunham Bar Pull System pull positions the bar stock to within 0.001".

"The Dunham line of grippers has a proven track record of helping machine shops and factories to economically automate their processes, as well as reducing the need for expensive, space-consuming bar feeds," said a company spokesperson.

Dunham Bar Pullers are available from stock in individual inch and metric sizes, along with multiple complete kit options. Inch sizes range from 1/8" to 2" in 1/16" increments, and from 2-1/8" to 3" bar sizes in 1/8" increments. Mounting shanks are available in 1/2", 5/8", 3/4", 7/8", 1", 1-1/4" and 1-1/2", as well as a 5/8" gang tool specific bar pull shank. Metric gripper sizes range from 3 mm through 34 mm in 1 mm increments.

"Utilizing a specially designed shank, Dunham Grippers also fill a void by providing a great option for use with gang tool lathes," said the spokesperson. "It is very common for gang tool applications to have space constraints, but with the Dunham PB0625GT shank it allows for the use of Dunham Bar Pullers to help increase efficiency and profitability."
