Sonny Leonard to Build Engine for Sunnen's 30th Charity Sweepstakes

Sonny Leonard of Sonny's Automotive Racing and the custom-built 727 cu.in. hemi engine that will be raffled in the 30th Annual Sunnen Engine Charity Sweepstakes at PRI in Indianapolis.

A 727-cubic inch, EFI custom-built hemi engine from Sonny's Automotive Racing is the prize in the 2019 Sunnen Engine Charity Sweepstakes at the PRI show. The engine can be street-driven on 93 octane fuel, producing 1,310 HP, naturally aspirated.

Sonny Leonard and the team from Sonny's Automotive Racing (SAR), Lynchburg, VA, have volunteered to build a high-performance engine for the Sunnen Charity Engine Sweepstakes at the Performance Racing Industry show (PRI). This will be the 30th anniversary of the Sunnen Charity Engine Sweepstakes, with all proceeds going to the Victory Junction, a camp for children living with serious medical conditions founded by NASCAR's Petty family. The winning ticket will be drawn at the PRI show in Indianapolis December 12-14, 2019 (prishow.com).

This year's engine is a custom-built 727-cubic inch hemi engine valued at more than $60,000. The engine will include: Sonny's fully in-house ported hemispherical cylinder heads, Sonny's/Brodix 5.000 B.S. block with 1.000" raised cam with special hi-flow water jackets, a Bryant billet crank, Carrillo steel billet rods and more.
