OPEN MIND Technologies, a developer of CAD/CAM software solutions worldwide, has announced it will be GROB's exclusive CAM partner at 5-AXiS LiVE!, a GROB Technology Event featuring eight GROB partners. OPEN MIND will feature the latest release of its advanced hyperMILL CAM software (version 2019.2), offering enhanced advantages with 5-axis machining. Two parts programmed with hyperMILL will be showcased at the event, including a complex aerospace component and mold.
The event is scheduled for August 20, 2019, at GROB's Production Facility in Bluffton, OH, from 9 AM to 6:30 PM. Beginning at 7:30 AM, attendees are invited to arrive for breakfast and networking.

The hyperMILL MAXX Machining Finishing Module, a performance package of the hyperMILL CAM software suite, will be highlighted during OPEN MIND's demonstration. hyperMILL MAXX Machining enables the use of conical barrel cutter technology to reduce cycle times over 90% and is suitable for planar, ruled and curved surfaces often found in complex 5-axis components. A new 5-axis Prismatic fillet finishing function in hyperMILL MAXX Machining facilitates the geometry and automatic inclination of barrel cutters to be applied similarly to high feed cutters, using a plunging and pulling movement at high feedrates. hyperMILL MAXX Machining offers three powerful modules for finishing, roughing and drilling.
"OPEN MIND is the only CAM vendor offering 'factory-approved' post-processors," said the spokesperson. The post-processors are embedded/integrated in hyperMILL for efficiency and ease-of-use. The hyperMILL CAM solution calculates toolpaths independently of machine and controller, and users can generate NC programs from this neutral data that are optimized to meet application requirements and matched with the machines and controllers to be used.
