NLign Analytics Awarded Air Force Contracts



NLign Analytics, a provider of 3-D inspection, maintenance and manufacturing data solutions, has been selected by the U.S. Navy to support a structural condition monitoring program on P-8A aircraft in service throughout the U.S. Navy and the Royal Australian Air Force. The program will utilize the NLign Analytics Platform to collect and record airframe defects, inspections, repairs and modifications to P-8A aircraft structure in order to ensure structural integrity and maximize availability.

Manufactured by Boeing, the versatile P-8A is designed for a broad range of operations including long-range warfare, surveillance and reconnaissance missions. It is capable of wide-area maritime and littoral operations and effective at humanitarian and search and rescue missions.

NLign Analytics CEO Tom Sharp said, "The proper recording of structural repairs, modifications and inspections is pivotal when assessing the condition of any aircraft fleet. Adopting a digital data management solution will deliver measurable improvements to P-8A fleet maintenance data management and aircraft availability. NLign Analytics has also announced a U.S. Air Force award to provide a streamlined and digital aircraft inspection and repair solution. The program will focus on supporting military A-10 aircraft maintenance activities.

The program is divided into two phases. During the technical maturation phase, NLign's NLign NCheck application will be refined and configured for use on laptop or tablet to facilitate aircraft maintenance processes. NCheck provides the ability to document inspection findings and correlate them to 3-D computer model locations. A configurable task management feature allows maintenance personnel to view information concerning assigned tasks and link to detailed work instructions. In the program's second phase, the application will be transitioned for evaluation within the A-10 depot facilities at Hill Air Force Base located near Ogden, UT.

Sharp commented, "The current A-10 aircraft inspection and repair concept of operations is a labor intensive and largely paper-based reporting process. The objective is to provide a streamlined digital maintenance solution leveraging the NCheck application. Once deployed, A-10 System Program Office (SPO) and Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC) should see significant manpower savings, better quality data captured and faster turnaround on structural repair dispositions. This award further demonstrates the U.S. Air Force's commitment to responsiveness and confidence in NLign to support such initiatives."
