Mahr Signs Cooperation Agreement with NanoFocus

Mahr and NanoFocus, a German manufacturer of 3-D surface metrology, have signed a cooperation agreement. Mahr will offer confocal microscopes from NanoFocus as the new Mahr product family "MarSurf CM." This expands Mahr's tactile portfolio with optical metrology.

Optical measurement technology is becoming increasingly important for many applications due to its high measurement speed and accuracy. Mahr has concluded an exclusive cooperation agreement with NanoFocus AG and is now expanding its product portfolio of tactile and optical measuring stations with high-resolution, confocal 3-D surface measuring systems. NanoFocus was founded in 1994 and is focused on confocal technology.

"NanoFocus has been the technology leader in confocal, optical 3-D surface metrology for more than 20 years and has a high level of innovation," said Ulrich Kaspar, Managing Director at Mahr. "That is why NanoFocus is the right partner for us."

The confocal 3-D surface measurement systems of the new MarSurf CM product range are used in medical technology, the automotive industry, materials management or by manufacturers of electrical engineering. The optical measuring systems have several advantages: in addition to the high measurement speed, they work independently of the material and without contact for sensitive surfaces.
