New 5-Axis Workholding Device

Elijah Tooling Inc. (ELT) offers its new 5-axis modular riser for manufacturers of 4/5-axis parts.

"The 5-axis riser features a modular flexible design allowing each of the integrated parts to be used in alternative quick-change set-ups," said a company spokesperson. It consists of a riser foundation, a universal common modular fixture (UCMF) riser and Flexvise dovetail vises.

The hardened steel riser foundation attaches to most fixture plates and is manufactured for quick change off of an Invert-a-Bolt (IVB) UCMF or may be attached using legacy methods. It comes with built-in handles for easy loading and unloading. The riser foundation can be used as a stand-alone workholding solution and accepts Flexvise vises or other off-the-shelf components.

The UCMF riser is made of anodized aluminum and comes in multiple heights using a combination of patented IVB fasteners and multi-purpose holes. It attaches directly to the steel riser foundation, or can be used to attach directly to a UCMF plate with IVB fasteners or legacy methods.

The Flexvise dovetail vises are made of hardened steel and can be mounted to the UCMF riser, the riser foundation or directly to a UCMF plate using IVB fasteners or legacy methods. The vises also offer an optional straight vise clamp for extended flexibility. In addition, the modular nature of the vises allows manufacturers to work in conjunction with additional vises as workholding needs expand.

"This 5-axis riser is unique in that each of its main pieces can be used independently or with alternative competitor workholding set-ups," said ELT President Rick Miller.
