AeroDef Manufacturing Summit and Exposition 2014

AeroDef Manufacturing Summit and Exposition 2014 introduces the Manufacturing Intelligence Series, an initiative to give attendees exclusive access to industry insiders in order to help understand and respond to the rapidly changing dynamics shaping the industry. AeroDef Manufacturing takes place February 25 - 27, 2014, at the Long Beach, CA, Convention Center.

"Our essential mission is to write the playbook for the decade ahead, which requires the participation of the suppliers and other industry stakeholders," said Dave Morton, Senior Show Manager for SME. "You will be in the same room where top people from the OEMs and government sit down and discuss how we can maintain our competitiveness amongst historic, and very challenging, circumstances."

The Executive Intelligence and Exclusive Keynote Speakers are interactive sessions focused on areas critical to the growth of manufacturing, including cybersecurity, 3D manufacturing, national public/private manufacturing initiatives and the effects of the federal budget sequester. Speakers will share their vision of the potential of technology, collaboration and public policy to transform manufacturing - concepts that attendees can experience on the exposition floor and in-depth technical sessions. Attendees also are encouraged to interact with speakers, presenters, exhibitors and each other at the opening Take Off event, the Integrated Solution Centers and AeroDef After Hours receptions.

The summit and exposition will exhibit advanced technologies across a floor plan arranged by technology zones and designed to facilitate interaction and business relationships among participants. At the center of the floor is The Deck, the hub of activities at AeroDef.

"announces four Executive Insights panel discussions focused on the most critical issues facing aerospace and defense manufacturing today," said Morton. "These are the people making long-term investment decisions based the most current business and policy analysis. It's like having a seat at the boardroom table."

As part of the Executive Insight Series, panel discussions follow remarks by speakers from business and government. Speakers provide an insider's perspective on these complex issues and a meaningful framework for discussion.

"Sequestration: OEM & Supplier Perspectives," Tuesday, February 25, 9:00 - 9:45 AM. The focus is on how deep cuts in defense program are driving OEMs and their suppliers to rethink business strategies. It includes participants from Lockheed Martin and Ace Clearwater Enterprises.

"Cyber Security and Counterfeit Parts & Materials: An Escalating Global Challenge for Aerospace & Defense Manufacturers," Wednesday, February 26, 1:00 - 2:00 PM. The focus is on how manufacturers are addressing vulnerabilities in the supply chain and elsewhere that make programs susceptible to security breaches. It includes participants from the Missile Defense Agency, Lockheed Martin and Nokomis, Inc.

"The New Manufacturing Innovation Institutes: How will they Help Aerospace & Defense Manufacturers," Thursday, February 27, 8:30 - 9:30 AM. This is an update on current and future initiatives of the federal program to promote investment and production in the U.S. It includes participants from the National Institute of Science and Technology Advanced Manufacturing Office, National Additive

Manufacturing Innovation Institute (NAMII), Digital Manufacturing & Design Innovation Institute and Lightweight & Modern Metals Manufacturing Institute.

"3D Modeling Manufacturing World: Significant Advancements in 3D Manufacturing as it Relates to the Future of Aerospace & Defense," Thursday, February 27, 1:00 - 2:00 PM. The focus is on the current practices and potential of 3D technology to be a transformational agent in aerospace and defense manufacturing. (Participants to be determined.)

AeroDef Manufacturing is produced by SME in partnership with Bell Helicopter/Textron, Boeing, EADS, Lockheed Martin, National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining, Northrop Grumman and Raytheon.
