Compact 5-Axis EDM Drill
February 1, 2014
Current EDM offers its CT400-5A EDM drilling machine for general metalworking, medical, aero engine and power generation industries.
The Model 400 base machine is designed with a traveling bridge to maximize work area and keep a small footprint. The integrated Nikken AB tables provide positioning for angled holes. Table travels are 16" x 12" x 16" with a table capacity of 1,000 lbs. Optional auto electrode and guide changer can provide automation for extended production runs.
Improvements include a programmable servo function that reduces electrode flexing with long, small diameter electrodes. Users can expect faster drilling times and improved accuracy for detecting electrode break through, according to the company.
"Auto electrode change management cycles have been upgraded," said a company spokesperson. "Electrode optimization maximizes electrode usage when using the auto electrode changer and has improved change time by up to five seconds per cycle.
"The enhanced power supply features technologies for drilling with reduced electrode side wear at the tip of the electrode, resulting in improved hole diameter and depth consistency, faster drilling speed and more holes per electrode.
"The new model features a choice of two multi-axis Siemens controllers for capability and reliability. Enhanced software and hardware upgrades increase drilling speed and machining stability. New control screens enable better operator control and offer the ability to graph and save results of each hole for complete project tracking and operator analysis.
