High Accuracy Tactile CMM

Optical Gaging Products (OGP), a division of Quality Vision International (QVI), has introduced the QVI FlexPoint high accuracy tactile coordinate measuring machine (CMM) to the industrial marketplace.
FlexPoint is an industrialized touch trigger probe CMM designed to measure small micro-manufactured parts, or small features on larger parts, with a high degree of accuracy. "FlexPoint offers the stability and physical isolation of a granite substructure, and its air bearing motion system accomplishes part translations smoothly and precisely," said a company spokesperson. "This versatile CMM is equally at home on the manufacturing floor or in the QC laboratory." FlexPoint is available in two models: FlexPoint 111 with an XYZ measurement volume of 160 x 100 x 160 mm, and FlexPoint 212 with its 220 x 160 x 220 mm XYZ measurement volume.
FlexPoint is equipped with QVI's new ZONE3 CAD-based 3D metrology software. ZONE3 features a simple user interface, and its kinematic model simulates the machine, part, fixtures and sensor, updated in real time. According to the company, built-in productivity maximizing tools, integrated GD&T functionality and visual validation of measurement intent offer speed and power to the measurement process.
