150 More Parts Added to Automation Line

DE-STA-CO has added more than 150 parts, including new Crossbar and tri-axis transfer press components, to its Accelerate Collection of lightweight tooling.

According to the company, the Accelerate Collection can provide production line speed gains of up to 30%. Responding to customer requests for additional options, DE-STA-CO has added more than 150 parts to the line.

DE-STA-CO has added more than 150 parts to its Accelerate Collection of lightweight tooling. "The collection, introduced in 2013, was expanded in response to customer requests for additional options to increase automated press room stamping line speed," said a company spokesperson. Accelerate is designed to be a light standard line of end effectors.

New Accelerate Collection elements include the following:

  • Crossbar and tri-axis transfer press components
  • Clamp blocks, T-clamps and parallel clamps
  • Sheet metal gripper mounting brackets
  • Sensor-mounting components.

"Many of our customers who purchased Accelerate Collection end effectors over the last year were so happy with the improved productivity of their Accelerate-equipped lines that they asked us to develop additional sizes so they could install Accelerate components on more robots and transfer presses," said Rob Pitera, DE-STA-CO Global Product Director for end effectors. "We were happy to oblige."

The Accelerate Collection was developed to help customers increase production speeds. "The end effectors in the Accelerate Collection are built to be up to 50% lighter than others, which makes it possible for lines to move more quickly without putting undue stress on automation equipment," said the spokesperson. "Accelerate end effectors can provide production line speed gains of up to 30%. Since workers manually change tooling on many automated lines, Accelerate end effectors' lighter weight also improves ergonomics, resulting in higher worker safety ratings.

"The Accelerate Collection consists of a wide range of sleek, modular aluminum components that can be assembled into custom end effectors for most press room applications. Although Accelerate components are lighter than others, they are sized to global standards, making them compatible with existing equipment around the world, regardless of brand."

The full Accelerate Collection is featured in a new DE-STA-CO Press Room catalog. The catalog, CAD files for all Accelerate part numbers, videos and more information are available at www.destaco.com/lightweight-tooling.html.
