New Pump/Skimmer Units with Electrical Pumps Remove Tramp Oil

The new ECO pump/skimmer units from Keller Products, Inc., are designed to remove tramp oil and aerate coolant in sumps at a flow rate of 180 gallons per hour. "Similar in operation to the well-established Keller TKO units, the ECO units utilize an inexpensive submerged electrical pump in place of the compressed air driven pump used in the TKO units," said a company spokesperson. "Since it is not possible to prefilter the coolant that enters the submerged pump, the ECO systems are recommended when the coolant has a relatively low level of suspended solids or when the shop has a limited supply of compressed air.

"In common with the TKO separators, the ECO separators dramatically increase coolant life and greatly reduce coolant purchase and disposal costs. An ECO pump/skimmer pumps oily coolant from the surface of the sump, removes the tramp oil with the Keller patented permanent oil separator and continuously returns the cleaned coolant to the sump." The oil layer collected in the separator tank is occasionally drained into a waste oil container by opening the oil drain valve. No other operator attention is required.
