Air Chuck for Gripping Hole Saw Blanks

Northfield Precision Instrument Corporation, which designs and manufactures precision workholding chucks, introduces its Model 627-W 6" diameter chuck. This chuck, with .0001 T.I.R., was designed to grip hole saw blanks for turning and tapping. The chuck is a coolant/air blast through, 2-jaw air chuck with a 1" diameter counter bore for tap clearance. Special sub-jaws with two "bullet" nosed pins grip the blanks between two holes. The jaws are approximately 3/4" wide to fit between two hardened and ground full circle segments mounted to the chuck face to support the work piece during machining.

Northfield Precision designs and manufactures air chucks for any lathe, boring machine, grinder or VMC. Models include through-hole, high-speed and quick-change. Chucks are available in SAE or metric, in sizes from 3" (76 mm) to 18" (457 mm). "Accuracies of 0.001" to 0.00001" (0.254 m) are guaranteed. Custom workholding chucks and jaws are available and engineering assistance is offered," said a company spokesperson.
