The Safe-Lock System from HAIMER is an integrated pull out protection for round cutting tools that uses a friction and form locking system. "It increases process security, enables a higher metal removal rate and provides results that are better than conventional tool clamping systems," said a company spokesperson.
Fullerton Tool Company Inc. and HAIMER USA have signed a U.S. licensing agreement. The Fullerton Tool Company is now offering its end mills to the U.S. market with the HAIMER Safe-Lock System.
The Safe-Lock design in cutting tools and toolholders combines high precision shrink fit clamping with a positive form locking mechanism. This prevents round cutting tools from being rotated or completely pulled out from toolholders during heavy machining. "The combination of a symmetrical locking tool design with high concentricity and excellent balance of the Safe-Lock system results in a vibration-free machining process, leading to more efficient metal removal rates," said a HAIMER spokesperson.
"Fullerton Tool has been a frontrunner in the manufacturing of solid carbide cutting tools for 75 years, and is recognized as a leader in precision-made tooling that is used in virtually all industries including medical, aerospace, automotive and mold and die," said a spokesperson. "Its innovations led to design cutting tools that allowed increased precision while reducing vibrations for greater speeds and increased metal removal rates (MRR). However, the increased MRR can lead to a potential pull-out of the cutting tool during aggressive machining due to higher helix angles and increased cutting forces. This fact led the team at Fullerton to look for a solution that enables full realization for its tools potential cutting speeds. Its research, along with customer feedback, led Fullerton Tool to partner with the Haimer Safe-Lock system technology."
Brendt Holden, President of HAIMER USA, stated, "We are very happy to have formed a partnership with Fullerton Tool, an American market leader in the cutting tool industry. Fullerton's precision-made tooling is well suited for the HAIMER Safe-Lock system. I fully believe Fullerton customers will welcome the added security and inherent balance and precision of the Safe-Lock System that will allow them to increase shop productivity."
"Fullerton Tool has been developing strong alliances focused around the customers' success for over 75 years," said Patrick Curry, President of Fullerton Tool Company. "Our recent collaboration with HAIMER is yet another example of putting the customer first. Not only are we excited to partner with HAIMER, who shares a similar history of being an innovative, family-owned, customer-focused manufacturer, but as a HAIMER Safe-Lock provider we will continue to improve profits at the spindle for customers. Combining HAIMER's innovative toolholding technology with Fullerton Tool's groundbreaking advanced performance solid carbide tooling will impact manufacturers significantly who are looking to improve metal removal rates and quality of the parts produced."
