Wireless Manual Pulse Generator Operator CNC Pendant

Centroid has announced a wireless MPG operator CNC pendant, model CWP-4, for use with its Acorn, Oak and Allin1DC controller kits aimed at the OEM and do-it-yourself CNC control builder. The Centroid wireless MPG hand-wheel CNC control pendant allows the operator to conveniently set up jobs and tools remotely.

"Now the operator can take the control to where the work is," said a company spokesperson. "Set free from the CNC control console, operators find that the CWP-4 is handy for set-ups on large machine tools where accessing the main CNC control interface panel is out of sight or far away. The wireless MPG makes setting up a machine tool easy by allowing precise control of the machine tool, while being positioned right beside the area of work.

Easy Installation

The MPG is designed for use with the latest version of Centroid CNC12 software. There is no extra software or drivers to install. The CWP-4 is plug & play with Centroid CNC12 Pro CNC software-just plug in the included USB transmitter/receiver and start using it. It is suitable for all types of mills, lathes, routers and other specialty CNC machines.

The MPG has an axis selection knob and a pulse resolution selector knob that allow smooth fast motion, all the way down to slow precise increments for accurate touch-offs.

"The wireless MPG is more than just a manual pulse generator," said the spokesperson. "It is also a wireless operator control pendant with four user programmable function keys (macros) that allow users to pre-program the desired button function to tailor the control pendant to their particular machine tool or job, thereby saving time and adding convenience by eliminating trips back to the CNC control operator console."

On the pendant, there are nine other commonly used buttons that are pre-programmed and labeled, allowing the operator to remotely start, stop and restart jobs, set up part zeros and measure tools. The MPG also does triple duty-not only is the MPG wheel used for regular jogging and exact positioning of the machine tool axes, but the MPG wheel also controls the spindle speed and the feedrate override. The operator simply turns the wheel to speed up or slow down the spindle or the feedrate, all on the fly while the machine tool is running.

The new pendant also has a small LCD screen that displays the DRO axes position in real time, along with battery and signal strength. The pendant takes two AA batteries lasting on average around 3-4 weeks when using good quality batteries. The transmitter requires no batteries and gets its power from the USB port that it plugs into.

The CWP-4 is for use with Centroid CNC controls (up to 4 axes).
