Fives Launches Line Machines Robotics

Fives Liné Machines has announced the launch of Liné Machines Robotics. The robotics options will complement the traditional, large machine tool solutions already being provided to the aerospace, rail and heavy equipment industries.

Liné Machines Robotics will offer cost-effective and flexible robotics solutions for the aerospace and other industries. The robotics solutions can be offered as an additional option in conjunction with the large machine solutions. It is also aimed at offering more added value to the large machine tools solution base.

"The solutions from Liné Machines Robotics will assist manufacturers in maximizing the efficiency of new or current equipment," said Guy Lalonde, President of Fives Liné Machines. "Additionally, our robotics efforts will contribute to increasing part reliability as well as taking certain processes from manual to automated."

Heading this new activity are François Arsenault and Maurice Chevarie, who have more than 50 cumulative years of experience in the robotics field. They will direct the teams for engineering, applications and business development.

Liné Machines Robotics will develop solutions around these seven core processes:

  • Mill, trim and drill
  • Deburring and polishing
  • Cleaning and surfacing
  • Forming
  • Inspection and scanning
  • Automation, tool and part holding
  • Peripheral equipment for machine tools.

Robotics solutions will be explored in the laser, waterjet, milling, shot peening, scanning, vision and other technologies. For each project, the team will look at potential increases in reliability, productivity and health and safety. As with other solutions from Fives, the Liné Machines Robotics dedicated team will work closely with clients to define customized specifications to meet their needs. Liné Machines Robotics will have the support and expertise from Fives' Metal Cutting Composites activity, and other companies within the Fives Group.
