Three-Jaw Power Chuck Line with Rapid Change Jaw System

"MicroCentric Corporation has announced the KSF line of high precision three-jaw power chucks featuring a patented Rapid Change Jaw System, allowing the top jaws to be changed faster than any other chuck on the market, including quick jaw change models which require both the top jaw and base jaw to be changed as a unit," said a company spokesperson. Utilizing Rapid Change helps to eliminate investment in multiple sets of base jaws or expensive monoblock style jaws while retaining the benefits and savings of quick change chucking.

The RC system maintains .0008" (.020 mm) TIR maximum workpiece runout after jaw change. Rapid Change top jaws are available as blank machinable jaws and in sets of hardened serrated jaws to cover a range of diameters for first operation machining.

The new KSF line includes the patented QC precision change jaw system offering a repeating accuracy of .0002" (0.005 mm) TIR. "This level of precision provides lower costs, improved workpiece quality by maintaining close concentricity and squareness and parallelism tolerances, resulting in lower scrap rates in high accuracy required applications," said the spokesperson. "These KSF chucks often eliminate secondary finishing and grinding operations. When finishing is still necessary, the capability of holding closer tolerances enables less material finishing, thereby reducing cycle times for subsequent operations."

KSF chucks feature a center wedge design with large through holes. They will retrofit to a variety of CNC turning machines and utilize standard hydraulic cylinder and draw tube. They are currently available in 8" and 10" models.
