Higher Efficiency Through Pressure Filtration

Flow Pro Products' Model PF series pressure filters are designed to provide high performance filtration for fine particle removal when working with ferrous and non-ferrous materials.

The PF pressure filter is a horizontal pressurized bed filter utilizing disposable filter media. "The filters are designed to operate at pressures up to 40 PSI, which extends filtration cycle times. Extended filtration cycle times produce denser filter cakes, providing optimal particle removal," said a company spokesperson. "These filters are capable of processing up to 15 times more coolant flow per square foot of filter area than other conventional systems. This allows larger volumes of coolant to be filtered while reducing over all media consumption, ultimately providing a substantial cost savings."

Each filter features a unique automatic filter cake drying and indexing cycle designed to reduce the moisture content of discharged solids, providing an additional cost savings when considering waste disposal.

"Model PF filters are capable of maintaining nominal coolant clarity of less than 10 µm with an average particle loading of less than 50 PPM, extending the useful life of coolant, in some cases indefinitely," said the spokesperson. Additional benefits include increased tool life and improved product quality while minimizing environmental impact.

"Each filter can be configured and customized to satisfy any plant or process requirement," said the spokesperson. "They can be utilized as dedicated units specific to an application or integrated into existing systems as pre- or post- filters for process optimization." All Model PF filters are compatible with most semi-synthetic, straight synthetic and water soluble coolants, as well as straight oil.

"Model PF pressure filters are utilized over a broad range of industries. General manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, medical, and steel and iron are just a few. When greater efficiencies and lower operating costs are required, this concept is a wise choice," said the spokesperson.

Model PF pressure filtration system advantages include:

  • Reduced disposable media usage
  • Automatic filter cake drying and indexing cycle (reduced moisture content, less disposal cost)
  • Higher coolant flow rates per square foot of filter area
  • Filter components located above coolant tank level, allowing maintenance to be performed without draining the system
  • No interruption of coolant flow to the process should filter flow be interrupted
  • Yield greater filtration efficiency
  • Application flexibility (dedicated units, or integrated into existing systems).

Typical PF series pressure filter applications include but not limited to the following:

  • Grinding
    • Centerless I.D. and O.D.
    • Through-feed
    • Cylindrical roll
    • Double disc
    • Creep feed
    • Thread grinding
    • Multi axis tool grinding
  • Honing
  • Micro sizing
  • Wire drawing
  • Tube rolling.
