Auto-Teaching Machine Vision System

Keyence offers the newest addition to its Machine Vision product lineup, the CV-X100 Series. New tools include Auto-Teach Inspection, point and click measurement tools and more.

The Auto-Teach Inspection is able to automatically create an inspection based off of a set of good parts. Users first teach the CV-X100 what a "good" part is by analyzing and recording the image data. The tool will then automatically recognize variations that exist in the "good" parts. Any parts that are different from the learned "good" image data will be detected as defective. The Auto-Teach is programmed to account for even subtle color differences in the subject parts by utilizing the full color information.

High-precision measurements can be achieved through simple mouse operations with no calculations required. Users choose the dimension they are looking for and then draw a line on the top and left edges of the object. The intersection is automatically calculated. If units other than pixels are required, scaling can be applied.

The Camera Installation Replication tool guides users to adjust the camera and lens with the correct position, focus and brightness settings. The tool uses a pre-registered image to compare with the current image. It is intended to provide an easy way to readjust bumped cameras or to quickly implement the same vision inspection onto other lines.

"The standard manual often contains much more information than necessary," said a company spokesperson. "This makes troubleshooting time consuming and difficult. With a single click, the new CV-X100 PC software can automatically generate a user manual customized to the user's specific programs." The generated manual will include explanations of the main parameters, a list of tools to be used, basic tool settings and more. It can also include (if desired) tips describing how each tool's parameter is typically adjusted.
