Swift Arc Robotic Welding Systems

ESAB Welding & Cutting Products has introduced the Swift Arc series of pre-engineered, robotic welding cells. They are available in three models: Swift Arc AL (angle-load), Swift Arc FL (front-load) and Swift Arc SL (side-load) robot cells.

"Each system is an economic configuration for a complete work cell, and is ideal for job shops introducing robotics to their applications," said a company spokesperson. "The complete robotic system is delivered ready to weld. Just hook up the input power, gas and wire to start welding."

The welding power source and wire feeder, offered as standard components, are designed to minimize spatter and burn-through on thin materials. TruArc Voltage is another standard feature and is designed to provide accurate voltage information for critical welding. Other standard features include harmonized motion between the robot and external axes, open architecture Windows HMI, PC-based controller, constant wrist orientation function, electronic mastering for quick calibration and more.

Each Swift Arc system comes with an ESAB Marathon Pac of bulk welding wire and Aristo RT robotic torch. The torches' universal contact tips can be interchanged between water-cooled and gas-cooled torches.

The Swift Arc AL features a simple cell design with easy open manual doors and two independent working locations for improved productivity. Tooling can be changed on one side while welding takes place on the other side. The large capacity flat table side measures 36' x 42'. The cell features a KUKA KR-5 Arc Robot with PC-based KRC-2 controller with 11 lb payload and 55.5" reach.

The Swift Arc FL robotic cell is intended for use with small to medium parts with high production rates. The cell's servo table indexes parts to allow welded parts to be unloaded and new parts to be loaded during the welding process.

The Swift Arc SL robotic cell is designed for use with larger parts with high production rates. Dual trunions manipulate the parts, allowing welded parts to be unloaded and new parts to be loaded during the welding process.
