Chevalier Launches FocusCNC Advanced CNC Slant-Bed Lathes

Chevalier is launching a new line of CNC slant-bed lathes for industrial users: FocusCNC by Chevalier.

The FocusCNC series of CNC slant-bed lathes is engineered for high precision, ease of access and trouble-free maintenance in machining complex and intricate workpieces in the aerospace, automotive and mining industries.

Three FocusCNC CNC slant-bed lathe models are FBL-320Y/SY, FBL-360BMC and FNL-220LSY/LY/SY.

FBL-320Y/SY CNC lathe features:

  • Dual 30° true slant-bed design for improved chip removal to help prevent thermal deformation
  • High rigidity slant bed structure with low center of gravity for easy access and workpiece changes
  • One-piece Meehanite cast iron machine base with a wide span between box ways to help ensure maximum stability when machining heavy loads
  • Heavy-duty box ways design on X, Y, Z axes for low-friction, high-stiffness, high-load carry capacity
  • 12-station BMT-60 live turret with maximum 6,000 RPM live tooling speed
  • FANUC Oi-TF PLUS control with 4 axes simultaneously controllable

FBL-360BMC CNC lathe features:

  • Rigidity and accuracy for heavy-duty tough machining on mixed-volume short-run or dedicated high-volume applications
  • 45° true slant-bed with a low center of gravity, easy access for workpiece changeovers and improved chip removal to help prevent thermal deformation
  • Rigid boxway structure capable of low-speed and heavy-duty machining
  • Hardened ribbed Meehanite cast iron, monoblock structure resists deflection and vibration during heavy machining to help ensure stable end-to-end cutting of long shafts
  • 12-station BMT 75 servo-driven turret to deliver stable cutting
  • Powerful FANUC digital spindle motor that produces large torque during lower RPM and low noise operation

FNL-220LSY/LY/SY CNC lathe features:

  • Rigid 30° true slant bed design with a swing-over bed to handle workpieces with a maximum 270 mm (10.6") in diameter
  • Low center of gravity providing easy access for workpiece changeovers and improved chip removal
  • Linear roller guide way structure that provides 30% stronger rigidity than regular linear ball guide ways to help ensure the highest accuracy during high-speed machining, according to the company.
  • 2 axes driven by preloaded P3 ballscrews and fast linear ways with a wide span to provide maximum stability when machining heavy loads
  • Powerful 15 kW (20HP) spindle motor that revs up to 4,500 RPM
  • 16 station BMT 45 servo index turret.

As an option, FocusCNC slant-bed lathes are available with Chevalier's comprehensive iMachine Communications System (iMCS) software for 24/7 data collection, utilization monitoring, data analysis, alarm history, maintenance and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) to avoid downtime and increase productivity.
