"Expand Machinery has announced the GEN MILL 5X-4, a 5-axis (4+1) milling machine providing an affordable offering to profitably perform 5-axis work," said a company spokesperson. "Providing the fastest tool indexing and rapid rates in this class of machine, the GEN MILL 5X-4 gets work done quickly."
The spokesperson continued, "The machine features a robust cast iron construction along with a cross-roller bearing way system that is twice as stiff as ball bearing ways to provide improved cutting rigidity, tool life and positioning accuracy."
A Mitsubishi M80 control keeps up with the 5-axis moves with a 135,000 block per minute processing speed and a 1,350 block look-ahead and features Nano smoothing and a 32 GB solid-state data server.

- 4" zero-backlash roller gear cam tilting rotary table
- 12,000 RPM inline direct-drive beltless spindle
- 7.5-HP spindle motor with 6,000 RPM synchronous rigid tapping
- BT #30 BBT dual contact BIG-PLUS spindle
- 21-tool drum turret with 1.6-second tool-to-tool tool change time
- 2,362 IPM rapid rates in XYZ axis for fast production.
