Cincinnati Arrow is Back

Fives is bringing back Cincinnati product names and returning to the vertical machining center (VMC) arena with the Cincinnati Arrow. Listening to growing customer demand, the Cincinnati Arrow has returned to the Fives material removal offering.

"Maintaining the quality, accuracy and reliability of renowned Cincinnati machine tools, the Cincinnati Arrow offers a solution for job shops of all sizes," said a company spokesperson.

The spokesperson continued, "Directly coupled servo motors are connected to the ball screws with rigid shaft couplings. This ensures that even under sever loading from sharp corner machining, precise interpolation is achieved, creating a design that is superior to flexible shaft coupling designs."

Linear guideways feature zero clearance and fully loaded carrying capacity in all directions. The ways consume less power and require no adjustments, the company reported.

The Cincinnati Arrow features chip augers on both sides of the machine and provides high volume coolant to wash the chips from the work area. The augers move the chips into the disposal container, eliminating the need for an operator to manually remove chips. This system effectively eliminates operation intervention to reduce noncutting time.

The cast iron construction of the base column, saddle, headstock and tables are designed to have over 10x the dampening capacity of steel construction. This allows for improved cutting performance, enhanced by well-ribbed castings for high torsional stiffness and minimal vibration.

Cincinnati Arrow specifications:

  • XYZ-axis feedrate: 787.4 IPM
  • Spindle speed: 10,000 RPM
  • Tool capacity: 24
  • Max. tool diameter 3.15"
  • Max. tool length: 9.8"
  • XYZ-axis travels range from 31.4" x 18.1" x 20.1" (750 model) up to 50" x 23.6" x 24" (1250 model).
