Fluids for Grinding Operations

Transor Filter's TransoGrind line of high performance grinding oils includes TG-250 and EXP.

Transor's TG-250 is a severely hydrocracked and hydroisomerized (Group II) type fluid that, according to the company, yields improved quality, performance and user friendliness as compared to conventional (Group I) solvent refined products. "The patented refining process used to manufacture TG-250 removes 99.9% of the impurities typically found in conventional fluids, which typically have 15 - 30% of these unwanted compounds," said a company spokesperson. "By removing these unwanted impurities, TG-250 is virtually odorless/colorless and provides high viscosity stability, improved heat dissipation, faster cycle times and improved performance."

TransoGrind EXP Grinding Fluid is an extremely light synthetic based fluid designed for the specific needs of the Transor Filtration system and today's grinding operations. "The product is fully synthetic, being comprised of identically bonded molecules offering thermal stability and virtually unlimited life for use in properly filtered grinding operations," said the spokesperson. "This product yields longer wheel life and superior surface finish compared to conventional grinding fluids.

"EXP is a fully synthetic PAO (polyalphaolefin) grinding oil offering characteristics not found in any mineral based fluids including oxidation and thermal stability, lubricity, high viscosity index, fire safety and user friendliness. TransoGrind EXP is an excellent choice for heavy stock removal grinding operations."

Both the TransoGrind TG-250 and EXP are also available in "PLUS" formulation. "The 'PLUS' designations reflect an additive package that makes each product ideal for carbide, HSS and stainless steel applications by providing faster cycle times, reduced burn marks and sharper edges on tools," said the spokesperson. "Enhanced performances include heat dissipation, increased cycle times and significant reduction of burn marks."
