OMIC R&D Adds Postdoctoral Research Associates

Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center, Research & Development (OMIC R&D) continues its growth, recently hiring two postdoctoral research associates after a highly competitive search: Dr. Chuankai Song and Dr. Devyn Duryea. Their expertise will expand OMIC R&D's ability to conduct cutting-edge research in additive manufacturing (AM), supporting industry innovation and academic collaboration.

Dr. Song earned his bachelor's, master's and Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Oregon State University. Before joining OMIC R&D, he worked at the Advanced Technology and Manufacturing Institute (ATAMI) at OSU, collaborating with leading researchers in AM. Under the mentorship of Dr. Mostafa Saber, Dr. Song has taken on responsibilities such as publishing research and securing funding for new projects. His role is supported by grant funding as part of OMIC R&D's designation as a state Center of Innovation Excellence by Business Oregon.

Dr. Duryea holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Oregon State University, with expertise in advanced synthesis and characterization for AM of electronics and development of strain and temperature sensors using ultrafast laser manufacturing. He earned his bachelor's degree from Northwest Nazarene University in Idaho. Dr. Duryea will be stationed in OMIC R&D's Additive Center, working alongside Dr. Song. His role is supported by a federal Air Force Research Lab grant led by Dr. Mostafa Saber of Oregon Tech, contributing to OMIC R&D's ongoing research in advanced materials and manufacturing applications.
