Mazak Announces Dates for DISCOVER Manufacturing Event

DISCOVER 2019, an education and technology event, will take place at Mazak Corporation's North American Manufacturing Headquarters in Florence, KY, November 5-7 and 12-13. "DISCOVER 2019 - as well as all the company's regional DISCOVER MORE WITH MAZAK events - continues to propagate Mazak's steadfast dedication to supporting North American manufacturers and providing them with invaluable resources for learning and manufacturing innovation," said a Mazak spokesperson.

"DISCOVER 2019 attendees will experience new technologies that will increase their efficiency and productivity and keep them competitive in today's automated and digital manufacturing world," added the spokesperson. Such innovations include HYBRID multi-tasking machines with additive manufacturing (AM); friction stir welding (FSW); hot wire deposition (HWD) and auto gear (AG) package; digital manufacturing solutions including mixed reality (MR) remote service support and a new machine spindle health monitoring system; and several new functions and features, including artificial intelligence (AI) within Mazak's SMOOTH TECHNOLOGY manufacturing platform.

"Today's manufacturers face challenging production demands that shift on a daily basis and want immediate solutions to overcome them," said Dan Janka, President of Mazak Corp. "In most instances, they do not have the luxury of being able to wait for the next major manufacturing trade show to explore potential solutions. This is why Mazak customers have come to rely on the DISCOVER events for keeping up with the latest manufacturing advancements and strategies and why Mazak DISCOVER continues to hold the distinction as the industry's largest privately held manufacturing event in North America. With a theme of Discover What We Can Do Together, DISCOVER 2019 will be especially exciting because it also coincides with Mazak's 100 year anniversary."

In response to customer demand for new and advanced production equipment, the 30 machining systems at DISCOVER 2019 will be either completely new to the industry or making their North American debuts - several of which are Kentucky-produced models. The event will also feature several learning seminars with Mazak collaborative partners, access to Mazak application experts, a student day for recruitment and regularly scheduled tours of the Mazak iSMART Factory.

"Continuous improvement and manufacturing efficiency within its Mazak iSMART Factory ensure quality and the fastest delivery times possible," said the spokesperson. During the DISCOVER 2019 factory tours, attendees will experience Mazak's latest investments in its own manufacturing facilities, including a new completely automated manufacturing cell and the grand opening of an expanded and newly updated Spindle Rebuild Department.

Located on Mazak's Kentucky manufacturing campus, the Spindle Rebuild Department provides efficient and high-quality OEM-factory-certified spindle rebuild services. The new department will further improve Mazak's ability to quickly deliver spindles and reduce customer downtime.

In line with the Mazak iSMART Factory concept, the new manufacturing cell will show DISCOVER 2019 attendees the effectiveness of Mazak's SMOOTH TECHNOLOGY digital manufacturing solutions - including its new Smooth Spindle Health Monitoring - that contribute to increased productivity and maximized machine utilization. The new manufacturing cell features Mazak's MAZATEC Smart Manufacturing System (SMS) for both machine pallet and raw material stocking and six of Mazak's most advanced machine tools and also incorporates the Mazak SmartBox IIoT technology for process monitoring and optimization.
