Advancements in Waterjet Technology at SOUTH-TEC

At SOUTH-TEC 2015 in booth 1221 at the Charlotte Convention Center, OMAX Corporation will showcase the MAXIEM 1530 JetMachining Center loaded with an efficient direct drive pump, an advanced cutting head and the latest Intelli-MAX Software Suite. Applications experts will also be on hand to discuss the company's full range of table sizes and how it supports a vast array of machining needs, from prototype development to full production.

"The 1530 JetMachining Center is a next-generation MAXIEM machine that builds upon the cost-effective, yet high-performance technology of its predecessor. It offers enhanced durability and improved performance for an overall increase in productivity and profitability," said an OMAX spokesperson.

At SOUTH-TEC, the 1530 will be paired with a highly efficient 40 HP direct drive pump that features Variable Frequency Drive technology for precise cutting pressure control. Standard on the MAXIEM 1530 is the motorized Z-axis, which provides precise nozzle positioning. OMAX Corporation will also highlight the benefits of adding other accessories to the 1530 such as the Rapid Water Level Control, which allows for quiet and clean submerged cutting.

"Another main focus inside the booth will be the latest enhancements made to the Intelli-MAX Software Suite. The intuitive software, which automatically optimizes the machine's tool path, offers ease of use and the ability to help shops create precision parts faster and at a lower cost than other designs, said the company spokesperson. The most recent version of the software features a new fourth generation cutting model that offers a highly precise process and machine behavior predictions. As a result, operators can precisely predict the cutting speeds, taper, jet lag and other abrasivejet factors of the machine's tool path.

Intelli-MAX is widely compatible with other software systems, allowing users to import from more than 90 different file formats, including vector graphics, 3D files, raster graphics, CAD files and more. To further extend its versatility, most third-party CAD/CAM and nesting software systems can output directly to the controller software. This allows users to achieve the same results while continuing to use their current programs.
