Metrology Education Beyond the Classroom

Hexagon Metrology has unveiled HexagonMetrologyU, an eLearning portal designed to engage and support the metrology industry. The interactive platform debuts over 30 online courses covering metrology fundamentals, basic and intermediate software- and hardware-specific concepts for portable arms, CMMs, vision systems, laser trackers and more. HexagonMetrologyU captures and converts the company's internal metrology knowledge into online coursework. The self-learning classes concentrate on supplemental metrology skills development to complement classroom training provided at Hexagon Precision Centers throughout the U.S. To test drive the site or enroll in classes, students can register at http://hexagonmetrologyu.com. An introductory video can be found at http://hexagonu.wistia.com/medias/0k679k1rjq.

HexagonMetrologyU classes are accessible 24/7 from any location via an Internet connection and a web browser. The current online coursework ranges from "math for metrology" to specific instruction on hardware operation to software programming. Each course offers step-by-step tutorials capturing the know-how of Hexagon's veteran application specialists. Metrology fundamentals courses are free to use by students, teachers, metrology novices and experts alike. For those new to online training, there is also an eLearning course.

In addition to online classes, Hexagon Metrology offers custom on-site training and nationwide classroom training courses. Its full-time instructors are qualified to teach metrology skills such as PC-DMIS programming, metrology integration and CMM operation and maintenance. Hexagon Metrology provides over 600 classes per year. Its curriculum includes software training in PC-DMIS, Quindos, DOCS, Delcam Powerinspect and Innovmetric Polyworks, as well as hands-on, hardware-specific courses for CMMs, PCMMs, vision inspection systems and more.

Group training classes are held at Hexagon Metrology Precision Centers in the metro areas of Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX; Dayton, OH; Detroit, MI; Orange County, CA; Minneapolis, MN; Nashville, TN; Providence, RI; and Seattle, WA.
