Welding and Additive Training

KUKA offers its preconfigured KUKA Edu_ArcWelding and KUKA Edu_Additive education carts. Both are all-in-one carts that are mobile and fit through standard size doors. With a KR AGILUS robot and Lincoln Electric R450 welder, the Edu_ArcWelding can be used without the welder for general training purposes, and can even be used for the manufacturing of smaller parts. As a user-friendly, flexible and agile cell, the KUKA Edu_Additive cart features the KR AGILUS industrial robot fitted for 3D printing.

Developed as a complete starter package for schools, universities and company learning centers, the Edu_ArcWelding cart streamlines training and directly addresses current skilled labor shortages. The cart features a fume extractor, built-in fixture table and available options that include Touch Sense, Arc Sense, TRACC TCP and KUKA.Sim. KUKA also provides training courses and project-based digital lesson books with Edu_ArcWelding.

Components of the KUKA Edu_ArcWelding cell include a KR 6 R900-2 AGILUS robot with KR C5 controller and KUKA smartPAD teach pendant. It is also outfitted with a Lincoln Electric Power Wave welding power supply adaptable to 240V or 480V energy source and the company's MAGNUM Robotic Torch.

Whether for educators, students or industry professionals, the KUKA Edu_Additive training solution provides entry into 3D printing and robotics for additive manufacturing. The cell provides for hands-on instruction in robotic programming for 3D printing complex components, parts and structures.

With entry-level curriculum and support from official KUKA Systems Partner One Off Robotics, the KUKA Edu_Additive cell gets its speed and accuracy from the KR AGILUS. The compact robot provides precision for confined spaces due to its integrated energy supply system and control technology from KUKA. The robot's safe functionality paves the way for innovative automation concepts and unique applications, the company reported.

Other features of the KUKA Edu_Additive cell encompass a quick release print bed with automatic leveling along with automatic nozzle cleaning and filament detection. The cell also provides active print cooling capability.

As with all KUKA automation solutions, the KUKA Edu_ArcWelding and Edu_Additive cells are backed by company service and support for training, complete system engineering and simulation, readily available spare parts, robot refurbishment and more. All of which are easily accessible through the my.KUKA.com site, and KUKA maintains corporate offices and production operations, along with integration partner facilities, conveniently located throughout North America to provide responsive customer service and support.
