Stäubli Robotics to Demo Metal Fabrication at FABTECH 2023

Metal fabricators from across industries and the world gather at FABTECH, the biggest event of its kind in North America, for the latest in metal forming, fabricating, welding and finishing. This year, at Chicago’s McCormick Place on September 11-14, Stäubli Robotics will host live demos at Booth #B15021 (North Hall) and offer insights on robot-based automation solutions for overcoming the industry’s most pressing challenges.

Stäubli Robotics designs solutions from the standpoint of real-world pain points – and metal fabrication shops and manufacturers have their share: labor shortages, higher material costs because of supply chain issues, and the need for higher output and shorter cycle times pose real obstacles. But these issues are solvable, and Stäubli Robotics is at the forefront, tipping the scale toward profitability with robots that keep the workflow moving and consistently turn out quality products.

3D Laser Cutting

Stäubli Robotics will feature a laser cutting demo with its TX2-160L HDP (high dynamic precision) robot, designed especially for use in automotive, metal and other manufacturing plants tasked with laser cutting of complex parts. "The TX2-160L HDP handles elaborate cutting paths with ease, displaying high dynamic performance and impressive path accuracy at various speeds," the company reported.

The TX2-160L HDP’s precision is repeatable across all trajectories and orientations, accommodating different shapes, contours, thicknesses and other parameters. "A versatile tool changer enables it to easily switch from cutting to inspection," said a company spokesperson. "This level of flexibility makes it an asset in mass production as well as high-mix, low-volume production. The results: higher output, less material waste, fewer costly errors and shorter cycle times."

Programming Made Simple

There is no need for operators with programming expertise because Stäubli’s latest generation of easy programming software and user-friendly robotic teach pendant. FABTECH attendees will experience this for themselves at the training cell in Booth #B15021. The training presentation will use a pick-and-place operation with a TX2-60 robot, and visitors will have the opportunity to use the new SP2 plus pendant and learn how to build a basic application.

"Stäubli offers a complete range of industrial robots for processing metal parts. These compact, enclosed robotic arms with various attachment options are ideal for numerous high-speed applications such as finishing, die trimming, modeling, drilling, tapping, deburring, contouring and weld bead machining using various materials, e.g., aluminum, stainless steel or composites," a spokesperson said.
