September 11: Wintriss Announces Die Protection and Automatic Data Collection Presentations at FABTECH

Wintriss Controls Group has announced that Wintriss Product Manager Jim Finnerty will be making two educational conference presentations at FABTECH 2023 located at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL. Finnerty is an industry authority on automated press controls and OEE/ data collection/ production monitoring software. Stampers, metal formers and fabricators are welcome and encouraged to register and attend these educational presentations.

On September 11 from 10 – 11:30 AM in Room #S501A, Finnerty will present “Sensors for Die Protection - Make Die Crashes a Thing of the Past.” This presentation will cover every aspect of implementing a die protection program, as well as sensor selection and installation for progressive, transfer and compound dies. Using ultra-practical, application-oriented examples, attendees will learn best practices methods for detecting misfeeds, nonejected parts, improper transfer, material buckling and other potentially die-threatening issues using state of the art electronic sensors. In addition, attendees will learn how to keep their die protection program running by minimizing nuisance stops, eliminating run-time adjustments, implementing good wiring practices, and selecting sensors that will withstand the rigors of in-die use.

On September 11 from Noon – 12:30 PM in Room # S402A, Finnerty will present “Automatic Data Collection from Any Machine.” This presentation will describe effective ways to connect machines to a network to enable real-time data collection for identifying the status of any machine and process, tracking Key Performance Indictors, and quickly and automatically alert personnel of production issues. Various use cases will outline the protocols for connecting machines equipped with modern network-ready controls, as well as the retrofit process for legacy machinery with rudimentary controllers. Included are the five most important considerations for collecting accurate, timely and unbiased data, and the three fatal errors that most users never see coming. ROI examples will also be presented.
