Industrial Long-Stroke Gripper Designed for Collaborative Operation

SCHUNK offers the Co-act EGL-C series gripper. "Its high gripping force combined with a large stroke opens new possibilities for human/robot collaboration and allows for handling weights beyond small parts assembly for the first time," said a company spokesperson. "Up to now, the gripping force of the DGUV-certified SCHUNK grippers was limited to 140 N. Now, the Co-act EGL-C represents a new league of components. The intelligent 24 V gripper is suitable for handling workpiece weights up to 8 kg and can be flexibly used in a wide variety of applications."

Force measuring jaws and incremental encoders integrated in the base jaws continuously monitor the gripping force as well as the position of the gripper fingers. When the workpiece distance is < 4 mm, the fingers close with the freely definable maximum force of up to 450 N.

The SCHUNK Co-act EGL-C series comes completely pre-assembled and is available with the corresponding interfaces for HRC robots, including those from KUKA, YASKAWA, FANUC, Universal Robots and NACHI, enabling fast and simple commissioning. LED lights in traffic light colors indicate the current status of the module.

Product features:

  • High maximum gripping force of up to 450 N
  • Long stroke up to 42.5 mm per gripper finger
  • Handling/workpiece weights up to 8 kg
  • Fully integrated control and power electronics
  • Control via PROFINET, EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP or Modbus/TCP.
