Aluminum Fabrication Services Leverage Lightweight Advantages
October 1, 2019
Titletown Manufacturing's expertise in aluminum fabrication services caters to a number of industries, with paper converting and aviation customers among the most prominent in maximizing the lightweight advantages of this versatile metal.
"Aluminum is more expensive than carbon steel options, but its lightweight properties are worth the investment for industries that value this in their applications, said Titletown Manufacturing co-owner Chris Fuss.
The use of lightweight aluminum rolls in paper converting settings minimizes wear and tear on motors and makes for easier handling. Titletown Manufacturing's aluminum fabrication services also extend to high-quality machined parts, machine assembly and subassembly service offerings for industries such as defense and fire truck manufacturing, marine, printing machines, packaging machines and a variety of small OEMs.
Members of Titletown Manufacturing's welding team hold AWS qualifications for aluminum (D1.2) as well as TIG welding expertise with this higher-cost metal. "TIG welds are more visually appealing than stick welds or MIG welds, and also provide a mechanically strong bond," said a company spokesperson.
"Weld shops can provide TIG welding services, but many machine shops do not have this capability," stated Titletown Manufacturing co-owner Dan Hilliard. "This is another way in which we are able to reduce production times and costs for our aluminum fabrication services."
The TIG welding technique creates cleaner-looking welds because it does not use filler material. CNC systems help create the amount of precision needed to avoid overheating the aluminum and produce consistent results.
