Chevalier offers its UNi5X-400 5-axis CNC vertical machining center (VMC) equipped with a 2-axis rotary trunnion table and the patented iMachine Communications System for a 4+1 5-axis machine.
The 40-taper, high-speed VMC, integrated with a 4th and 5th axis table, is designed for high-speed, high-precision, high-productivity machining for the aerospace, medical and moldmaking industries.
The UNi5X-400 comes standard with Chevalier's iMachine Communications System, with the ability to connect to MT-LINKi for performance data, which includes anticipating potential issues and preventing costly down time. The ability of remote monitoring and service functionality of UNi5X-400 from anywhere eliminates the need for direct physical contact during inspection. This software identifies and reports lags in productivity on a 24/7 basis.
A two-axis rotary trunnion table with a heavy-duty, three-piece cross-roller bearing provides enhanced part loading and machining capability and ±10" accuracy for the A-axis. The 12,000 RPM (optional 15,000 RPM), 25 HP, CT-40 spindle includes a large diameter BIG PLUS spindle design that uses four-piece, P4 Class, high-precision, angular-contact ball bearings to increase spindle rigidity and maintain high accuracy during high-speed machining. A direct drive spindle is standard for low noise, vibration and thermal expansion. The series provides fast interpolation, with a high linear rapid speed of 1,417 / 1,417 / 1,181 IPM.
The UNi5X-400 features high-quality Meehanite cast iron that provides high rigidity and stability; an inverted Y-shaped column design with single-piece construction; and pre-tensioned Class C3 ball screws for all three axes. All servomotors are directly coupled to ball screws, increasing movement sensitivity while reducing backlash.
