Precision Machining Technology Program Renews NIMS Accreditation
September 1, 2015
Maintaining an industry standard inside the classroom is no easy task, but the Precision Machining Technology Program at Ranken Technical College has done just that and officially renewed its accreditation through NIMS. In receiving this national recognition, the college and its faculty demonstrate their continued commitment to excellence in metalworking training within the state of Missouri and for the greater good of the U.S. manufacturing industry.
Since first becoming accredited in 2008, the Precision Machining Technology Program continues to offer national industry credentials to students, and program faculty have led by example, collectively earning 75 NIMS credentials.
The renewal review process includes a comprehensive self-evaluation that is validated through a rigorous on-site evaluation, which occurred in Spring 2015 and was led by NIMS Evaluator Tom Rhoads of American Railcar Industries, Inc. Rhoads issued above-average ratings in all areas of the evaluation and, in combination with the program's self-evaluation and other criteria, NIMS Director of Accreditation Catherine Ross issued the renewal on June 19, 2015.
This accreditation is based on NIMS Machining Level I National Standards, with an emphasis in:
- CNC Milling Operations
- CNC Turning Operations
- Job Planning, Benchwork and Layout
- Measurement, Materials and Safety.
