"A group of distributor members working with AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology, has developed an exciting new event designed specifically for distributors. After talking with those in the distribution chain, we learned that distributors are looking for networking opportunities, learning about new technologies, discovering new ideas and inspiration," said Steve Lesnewich, Vice President - Member Services, AMT.
The Distribution Summit 2015, "Where Distributors Connect," will be held at the Hyatt Regency Columbus in Ohio. The inaugural event will start with a networking reception the evening of September 23, followed by a full day of sessions from 7:30am - 4:00pm, September 24. Attendees will make new contacts, see old friends, and get a feel for what is happening today in manufacturing technology.
"Today's informed machine tool buyers want more from sales people than just product pitches and demos. Joe Thomas, Founding Partner at Impact Advantage, will teach how to shift the 'middle majority' of sellers to execute the conversations that buyers will find new, valuable and refreshingly different in order to increase sales," said Lesnewich.
"Human Resources should be about making better decisions to manage liability and get on with the day-to-day operation of the business. Hunter Lott, Founder, HR Policy Studio, will discuss how distributors can protect themselves and their business.
"Gardner Business Media's Top Shops Survey shows that the best shops make a greater sustained investment in technology and people. Steve Kline, Jr., Director of Market Intelligence, will show distributors how to ask the right questions to determine whether they have found a high-potential customer.
"Laurie Harbour, President & CEO, Harbour Results, Inc., will highlight the impact of complexity across various industries such as automotive, aerospace and appliance, and how the best manufacturers are managing this complexity and driving overall profitability.
"There will also be an in-depth distributor panel where attendees will hear their peers discuss common challenges, such as finding and retaining top talent, creating a good mix of products to meet customers' needs, and how to better work with builders by defining roles, setting goals and improving communication.
"The day concludes with an inspirational session by Len Forkas, Founder of Milestone Communication, who will share how his son's cancer diagnosis inspired him to radically change his life and the team-building lessons he learned along the way, such as the power of forgiveness and gratitude, knowing your limits, and honoring roles.
"For anyone and everyone in the distribution chain, this is a must-attend event. Those who register before August 7 will save $100 off the registration price. Learn more about the Distribution Summit 2015 at www.AMTonline.org/D15, said Lesnewich.
