3D Infotech offers the latest version of its Point2CAD software. In this release, users of Point2CAD 2.1 will be able to directly model physical parts into SolidWorks CAD software using any 3D articulating arm.
Point2CAD 2.1 builds upon the integrated parametric modeling paradigm of SolidWorks and allows users of Faro, Romer, Microscribe and Baces3D arms to create parametric solid models rapidly from physical parts. The latest version features improvements including new sketching algorithms, repeatable cross-sections, additional probe compensation methods, improved deviation functionality and enhanced measurement module.
"With Point2CAD, users can easily create parametric solid models from a physical part," said a company spokesperson. "Using an arm is like using a mouse, but with the added ability to capture data live in 3D. The new measurement module allows users to quickly check and record distances, angles, perimeters and area, as well as perform volume calculations based on various interactions. Users can define coordinate systems and probe features such as circles, slots and more to generate the ideal model. Users can even check their work or get guidance for defining tolerance by probing over the part using the deviation check function."
