Thread Inspection System

George Products Company, Inc. has announced the addition of thread inspection to its OASIS inspection systems. OASIS Inspection Systems are designed to measure all external dimensions on the profile view of parts simultaneously and instantly. Now George Products offers a Premium Software Add-On Module that includes measurement of threads.
The OASIS thread tool measures key components of thread geometry with the same speed as all other dimensions in the OASIS - everything on the screen is done in less than a second, according to the company. Measurements include major, minor and pitch diameters. Pitch distance and crest and root truncation are also included. The OASIS thread tool works on 60° "V" form straight threads and the tolerances can be individually set for each characteristic measured.
In operation, all an inspector needs to do is set the threaded part into the OASIS field of view. The inspected parameters display on the OASIS system monitor, which graphically shows the status of every component in simple traffic light colors: Green is good, Yellow is a warning that it is getting close to the limits, Red is out of tolerance.
Dimensions can be saved in the included OASIS inspection report spreadsheet, imported in real-time to SPC or the thread tool can be used on the fly to monitor in-process thread production. Capabilities include sorting threaded parts and using the OASIS to identify threads in large batches.
According to the company, OASIS inspection systems are accurate to +/- 0.0001".
