June 2-6: Hypertherm Associates Continues to Champion Tomorrow’s Workforce at SkillsUSA
June 6, 2026Hypertherm Associates, a U.S.-based manufacturer of industrial cutting systems and software, continues its support of the annual SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference. Hypertherm returns to the conference, June 2-5 at the Georgia World Conference Center in Atlanta, GA in booth #163 at the event’s TECHSPO. The company’s plasma experts will be on hand to provide additional training and practice with the Powermax45 SYNC® plasma cutting system for competitors who qualified for the SkillsUSA Championships in the welding category.
“We donated nine Powermax45 SYNC systems for use at the competition last year, and the machines continue to be the benchmark for students working towards a career in metal cutting,” said Aaron Brandt, Hypertherm Associates President and CEO. “Its built-in intelligence removes complexity through automated settings and smart consumables, which allows students to concentrate on learning and building their skill set.”
In addition to working with SkillsUSA competitors, all attendees will have access to the Powermax45 SYNC at TECHSPO. "The system is easy to use and engineered to simplify operations, maximize performance and boost productivity. It includes the patented, easy-to-use Powermax single-piece cartridge that is pre-assembled and contains each of the elements found in a traditional stack to make consumable changeovers simple and fast," said a company spokesperson. "Each Powermax cartridge is designed and optimized for the appropriate amperage and application — whether drag cutting, gouging, mechanized cutting or any other specialty. They also contain a radio frequency identification (RFID) chip that communicates with the torch and power supply to set the correct amperage, usage mode and air pressure required for the torch lead length."
The annual weeklong National Leadership & Skills Conference is the nation’s largest gathering of America’s future skilled workforce and a celebration of skilled trades. Since its inception in 1965, SkillsUSA has championed the skilled trades and works in middle and high schools, colleges and technical institutions nationwide to teach students hands-on skills in more than 130 occupational areas as a solution to the ongoing skills gap.
“Our investment in SkillsUSA students also recognizes the teachers and industry volunteers who educate and support our next generation of skilled trades professionals,” Brandt added. “Hypertherm’s origin story is rooted in student-mentor inspired innovations, and we know how valuable that connection is.”
