Hexagon Features Cutting-Edge Devices, Metrology Solutions at IMTS 2024
September 14, 2024Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division is showcasing a variety of innovative devices at IMTS 2024.
IMTS attendees can visit booth #134102 in East Building, Level 3, for live demos and expert consultations on a range of devices and metrology solutions, bringing innovation to life for manufacturers of all sizes, empowering them to push boundaries and achieve new levels of excellence.
Leica Absolute Tracker ATS800: Streamlining Quality and Assembly Processes
Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division is previewing a newly developed laser tracker technology. Combining laser tracking with laser radar functionality, it brings traditional reflector-tracking accuracy to noncontact large-part measurement – sufficient to perform detailed feature and edge inspections and meet tight assembly tolerances from tens of meters away. The Leica Absolute Tracker ATS800 offers manufacturers significantly improved productivity in large-scale part manufacturing and assembly, where its reflector tracking and high-accuracy direct scanning are combined to rapidly and reliably measure critical features and minimize production bottlenecks on the shop floor.
With this new system, manufacturers can accurately measure fine edges and features across large volumes with unparalleled measurement process productivity, and at a safe and convenient standoff distance. By combining direct scanning and position tracking capabilities, the ATS800 replaces two pieces of hardware with a single, software-agnostic device, simplifying the robotic automation process.
The new Leica Absolute Tracker ATS800 will be available to all customers in 2025.
VISIUS: Redefining Optical Coordinate Measurement
Hexagon is introducing VISIUS, an intuitive optical coordinate measuring solution designed to address the evolving needs of modern manufacturers. VISIUS combines precision, versatility and ease of use in a single, affordable package, empowering businesses to achieve new levels of efficiency and quality. With this cost-efficient, all-in-one system, manufacturers don’t have to compromise for the sake of affordability, allowing them to enhance and improve processes in an economy where every dollar counts.
VISIUS eliminates the need for multiple, specialized systems, streamlining workflows and reducing costs. Additionally, the system’s user-friendly interface and comprehensive training resources make it accessible to operators of all skill levels. It can run unattended to free up operator time, and prevents quality control processes from becoming a bottleneck, enabling cost-effective measurement at the speed of production.
PRESTO: Revolutionizing Robotic Quality Inspection
Hexagon’s PRESTO System is a modular suite of automated robotic inspection cells that is transforming the landscape of 3D measurement, particularly in automotive and aerospace manufacturing. PRESTO offers unparalleled flexibility, scalability, and accuracy, with a user-friendly design that makes it accessible even for those without robotics expertise. By combining Hexagon’s industry-leading scanning technologies with advanced robotic automation, PRESTO enables manufacturers to achieve higher quality standards and faster time-to-market.
At the show, attendees can interact with a demo from Hexagon’s factory in Italy, seeing PRESTO in action, while learning how automation is helping manufacturers shrink the skills gap.
Handheld 3D Scanners: Empowering Innovation
Launched this summer, Hexagon’s two new handheld devices, the ATLASCAN Max and MARVELSCAN are ideal for measuring parts in a wide range of inspection environments where metrology has not traditionally been used. Unlocking the democratization of metrology and 3D scanning, these easy-to-use handheld scanners empower engineers and quality control personnel to perform critical inspections anywhere, any time – from initial design concepts to final production runs.
The new devices eliminate the need to fixture parts prior to measurement, which contributes to significant time savings and allows greater measurement flexibility. The scanners and parts can be moved freely during measurement, reducing the time it takes to capture complete part data without negatively affecting inspection results.
The MARVELSCAN's built-in camera delivers photogrammetry functionality that makes it the only scanner on the market to allow for inspection without the need for targets on the measurement object. Because this is ideal for scanning large parts, Hexagon is demoing the MARVELSCAN on a CZINGER 21C car at the Hexagon IMTS booth #134102 in the East Building.
Metrology Mentor: Automating CMM Programming
Hexagon is launching Metrology Mentor for the first time globally at IMTS, a revolutionary new SaaS application that automates the creation of measurement programs. A software solution powered by the company’s Nexus digital reality platform, Metrology Mentor delivers rapid, reliable and repeatable measurement routines, so manufacturers can speed up time to market without risking quality issues.
Metrology Mentor addresses a critical pain point in manufacturing: the time-consuming and variable process of coordinate-measuring machine (CMM) programming. By leveraging advanced algorithms and artificial intelligence, the software automates the creation of measurement routines directly from computer-aided design (CAD) data, adhering to industry standards such as the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Metrology Mentor eliminates the need for manual programming, reducing human errors and ensuring consistency across all measurement processes.
ETQ, part of Hexagon, Demos Breakthrough ETQ Reliance Inspection Management Application, Automating and Streamlining the Quality Inspection Process
ETQ, part of Hexagon, will be demonstrating its new Inspection Management application, part of its overall Quality Management System, in the Hexagon software booth #133210.
The new ETQ Reliance Inspection Management application is a breakthrough solution that automates and streamlines the quality inspection process. Discrete and process manufacturers who use hands-on inspections to meet quality standards and compliance requirements are now able to automate their inspection processes, reduce paperwork and enable real-time visibility into quality operations – all within an integrated quality management system (QMS). Inspection Management is another way for ETQ Reliance to ingest valuable shop floor data – along with SPC-generated quality alerts (e.g. Q-DAS integration) and other shop floor technology – and centralize quality data collection and analysis. The Inspection Management app brings a new level of automation, visibility and control to customers’ in-process quality inspection requirements and ensures that only quality products reach customers.
See it in action in Booth #133210.
