HERMLE Rides into IMTS 2024, as New Wave of Innovation Continues to Crest

HERMLE, a global precision machining technology company, will launch a new generation of technology at the upcoming International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) 2024 in Chicago, IL.

The wave of smart manufacturing and Industry 4.0 is presenting a tremendous opportunity for manufacturers.

HERMLE will unveil the HS flex hybrid, a single-source, fully automated pallet and vise handling system that maximizes storage capacity, with up to 5-times more storage locations. This ramps up flexibility and allows significantly longer spindle run times.

"Designed with intent, the HS flex hybrid addresses industry trends, such as increased part complexity, increased part customization, workforce shortages and increasing pressure to reduce costs," said a HERMLE spokesperson.

“At HERMLE, we are not just spectators of technological advancements—we are the ones always looking ahead for the next wave of innovation,” said Gunther Schnitzer, President and CEO of HERMLE USA Inc.. “With this opportunity, we encourage the manufacturing community to step up and put themselves in a position to capitalize on this most recent wave of innovation. Many look to us for our thought leadership and with that comes the responsibility to hamper the fear of change and the perceived high-cost of innovation while showcasing our machines and technology.”

According to Schnitzer, long-term success depends on discovering how best to navigate the landscape of modern production. Now more than ever, for machine manufacturers, the customer’s customer is the one pushing for innovation and cost savings, prompting a re-envisioned approach to automation.

Catching the Wave of Innovation:

● HS flex hybrid. HERMLE ushers in a new era of automated machining with the release of the HS flex hybrid storage module. The HS flex hybrid’s larger magazine boasts up to five times as many storage locations, providing greater flexibility and significantly longer runtimes. While others step out of the shop, the new HS flex hybrid steps up to higher spindle hours and more productive part production. Barring dramatic advances in cutting technology, parts cannot be cut faster, but time can be gained with additional, fully automated second and third shifts. Adding an element of consistency to what traditionally requires manual intervention increases the value of this found time. The HS flex hybrid stays ahead of industry trends while prioritizing seamless integration, allowing users to easily modify their setup to match their existing vise and pallet configurations.

"Attendees are encouraged to visit HERMLE’s exhibit in the South Building, Level 3, booth 339119, where they can see the HS flex hybrid for themselves and experience first-hand the innovation and expertise that HERMLE brings to the industry," the spokesperson said. "HERMLE will usher attendees into a new era of manufacturing, offering insights on Industry 4.0, cost reduction, consistency, cutting-edge automation and the future of flexible precision engineering.

Event Highlights:

● Themed Presentations and live demonstrations of HERMLE’s latest technologies and solutions. Featured machines and parts:

            ○ C 650 (VW Bus T1)

            ○ C 400 with HS flex hybrid

            ○ C 12 with RS 05-2 (golf putter)

            ○ C 42 U MT (impeller)

● 2024 HERMLE Golf Putting Challenge, drawing parallels between precision in golf and machine excellence. Each evening of the show, from 4 – 6 PM, guests will have the opportunity to attempt a 12-foot putt and win a custom HERMLE Golf Putter, machined on the C 12 with RS 05-2 automation – HERMLE’s most compact high-performance machine. An appropriate pairing that highlights the trending work envelope to footprint ratio while maintaining balance and tight tolerances, attributes that translate well on the putting green. The contest will be seeking the “Master of Precision” amongst machine shops and manufacturers, as well as influencers and media.

● HERMLE will welcome partners to their booth to highlight various components and technology that help provide the resources needed to excel in 5-axis machining. Partners represented at the HERMLE booth include:

            ● HEIDENHAIN

            ● HAIMER

            ● HERMLE MPA (additive manufacturing)

            ● REGO-FIX
