April 10-11: Davi to Highlight e-POWER Electric Plate Rolling Technology at KANSAS CITY GLADTECH 2024

Davi, the world’s largest manufacturer of rolling and bending technology, will feature its roster of plate metal rolling machine solutions, including the new e-POWER electric plate roller, at KANSAS CITY GLADTECH 2024, April 10-11. The Davi technical team will highlight the company’s five decades of metal rolling expertise and demonstrate the company’s all-electric e-POWER plate roll, along with its versatile range of 3- and 4-roll plate roll machines during the event, which runs each day from 9 AM–4 PM and includes a Kansas City-style barbeque lunch.

Showcased for the first time since its unveiling at FABTECH 2023, Davi’s revolutionary e-POWER electric plate roll is a nine-axis machine with dedicated inverters and actuators at each axis point. Unlike hydraulic machines, e-POWER’s axes can be operated independently and simultaneously to perform multiple tasks at once. The ability to operate multiple axes simultaneously dramatically increases throughput with cycle times that are 40% faster than hydraulic machines.

With a positioning accuracy more than doubled compared to conventional rolling machines, e-POWER provides shops with the highest levels of power and precision and ensures repeatable and reliable results for a variety of applications.

The e-POWER is highly energy efficient, consuming power only when it is actively rolling, the company reported. "As a result, it uses 50% less power than hydraulic machines and 30% less than electric/hydraulic hybrids," a company spokesperson said. "Combined with its ability to roll plates 40% faster than its hydraulic counterparts, the e-POWER can decrease operating costs by upwards of 60%."

The spokesperson continued, "Because it does not use hydraulic systems, e-POWER is not plagued by leaking hydraulic seals, clogged lines or the expansion of hoses and fluids caused by temperature and pressure fluctuations. There are also no pistons or valves to fail, decreasing maintenance requirements and increasing the machine’s durability and precision. Further, the inverters and actuators that drive the rollers are quickly and easily replaced when needed, as opposed to rebuilding them on site, thus eliminating lengthy repair downtime."

The e-POWER electric roller uses a small footprint that maximizes shop space, improves operator accessibility and streamlines installation and is designed for quiet operation, especially at idle.

For maximum versatility, Davi’s MAV 3-roll variable axis plate rolling machine uses tilting rolls for precise cone bending, while the company’s MCA 4-roll and MCB 4-roll plate rolling machines are for thinner materials and medium to heavy-duty plates, respectively. They provide perfect control over plate position by clamping it with a bottom roll, and Davi’s patented Servo-Tronic parallel control system keeps machine rolls in parallel alignment. The Davi MCA and MCB 4-roll machines are fully CNC control enabled for automated production with limited operator input required during the bending process.
