Metal Powder Bed Fusion Solution with 16 Lasers

EP-M1550 with a 16-laser capability

Metal part printed by EP-M1550

Eplus3D offers the EP-M1550 metal powder bed fusion (MPBF) solution with a 16-laser capability (optional to 25 lasers) with a large build platform.

The EP-M1550 configuration features a four-by-four matrix of 16 lasers and 16 galvanometers. The 16 lasers can be operated synchronously, allowing a high build rate of up to 650 cu. cm/h. The optics system can also be configured to include a five-by-five matrix to include 25 lasers and 25 galvanometers at a customer's request.

With the design of the machine being focused on large scale production, the build volume of EP-M1550 reaches 1,558 mm x 1,558 mm x 1,200 mm with the option of extending the height up to 2,000 mm. This gives a functional printing volume of 2,670 liters including the build plate, and even larger with the extended Z.

With the option of either a 500 W or 700 W laser, the machine has the capability to print a wide range of materials such as titanium alloys, aluminum alloys, stainless steels and mold steels. The machine can manufacture at layer thicknesses from 20 µm to 120 µm, combined with intelligence automation processes and high beam quality of the company's optical system. The EP-M1550 is suited for manufacturing large-size, high-precision and high-performance parts for aerospace and other industries.

"The EP-M1550 advances the global large-format metal AM to the next level," said a company spokesperson. "It realizes the commercial operation of ultra-large-size metal AM and allows global manufacturers to retrieve and enhance their competitiveness in the market. The solution offers a high level of customization to achieve our customers' application and processing needs."
