Flexware Plans Activities for National Engineers Week, February 19-25, 2023

Flexware Innovation announced a full slate of activities to take place during National Engineers Week. The annual Engineers Week, founded in 1951, takes place February 19-25, 2023, and is celebrated by engineering organizations around the globe. Flexware Innovation, a Fishers-based manufacturing technology integrator, employs software, electrical, mechanical and manufacturing engineers.

 

“We want to celebrate the unique talents of our engineers, and at the same time, encourage the next generation of engineers,” said Dwayne Butcher, Director of Marketing for Flexware Innovation. “We have several activities planned to recognize Flexware’s employees, customers, partners and the next generation.”

 

Below is a list of planned activities:

 

Business Intelligence Webinar

Flexware is hosting a webinar that features the business intelligence journey of customer Langham Logistics. The webinar features John Huybers, Langham’s Director of IT. In addition, Dustin Phillips will join as they discuss Langham’s journey toward meaningful data to drive business decisions. The webinar takes place February 23 from noon-1 PM EST.

 

Tell Me You're an Engineer Contest

What started as a Flexware employee competition, the “Tell me you’re an engineer without telling me you’re an engineer contest” has been opened to the public. Contestants may submit humorous text, photos and videos demonstrating an engineering mindset. A Raspberry Pi (a credit card-sized computing device) will be awarded to the winner, along with a $500 donation to the nonprofit of the winner’s choosing. Interested contestants may submit their entry at the competition’s webpage

 

Beers with Engineers

Beers with Engineers will take place at the Fishers, IN Top Golf facility. The event is a quarterly gathering of engineers in and around Central Indiana. Flexware covers the golf fee and provides food and drinks for all participants. The event takes place February 21 from 4:30-7:30 PM EST. Register here.

 

Employee Recognition

The company will offer a Flexware Engineer Appreciation Luncheon along with several public recognitions on social media of the company’s various teams. In addition, Butcher explained that Flexware would rerelease the “Hug an Engineer” video that debuted in 2016.

 

Youth Outreach

Two Flexware engineers, Alex Ryker and Jason Dang, will separately visit high school STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) classes, reaching more than 100 students with a positive outlook on engineering as a career. Ryker visits Carmel High School in Carmel, IN, while Dang visits Whiteland High School in Whiteland, IN.

 

Women and Minorities in Engineering

In honor of National Engineers Week’s first “Girl Day,” several of Flexware’s women engineers and support teams will be guests on the company’s monthly Twitch Stream, “A New Perspective.” The Twitch Stream takes place Tuesday, February 21 from 3:30-4:30 PM EST and is available online.

 

The following day, Wednesday, February 22, a team of women engineers from Flexware’s Valparaiso office will join Valparaiso University’s Society of Women Engineers on for a meet-and-greet with university students.

 

Finally, the Flexware Foundation donated funds to the nonprofit “Black Girls Do Engineer” as part of National Engineers Week. The organization’s website states, “Our organization was created with the concern that Black-American girls and young women are not choosing STEM-related careers, and our passion is to change the narrative and fix this issue.”
