Quality Vision International (QVI) will exhibit its Floor Model c-vision .

"Traditional optical comparators, with their rugged construction and large viewing screens, have a long history in industrial measurement, offering familiarity and ease-of-use. Training time is minimal, and their intuitive visual interface makes them approachable to the typical shop employee. Vision measurement systems, on the other hand, offer the advantages of full automation and highly functional measurement software, but cannot match a comparator for versatility and shopfloor toughness. c-vision s combine the proven, rugged design of optical comparators with the accuracy, speed and automation of a vision measurement system, to bring you the best of both worlds," said a company spokesperson.

The Floor Model's 250-lb. load carrying capacity and open work area make it suitable for measuring large, heavy parts, while its dual magnification telecentric optics and high resolution megapixel metrology camera allow it to easily verify tightly-toleranced critical dimensions. An optional large-field megapixel camera offers a 25% larger field of view than a traditional 30" comparator, while maintaining a relatively small footprint.

vCAD virtual chart gage software is standard on c-vision systems. vCAD compares a projected part image with that part's digital CAD file overlay. Users can then align edges, compare dimensions and view color coordinated tolerance bands to determine if the part is within tolerance. Changing c-vision magnification automatically rescales the vCAD overlay. "vCAD's simplicity, ease of use and screen resolution exceed that of traditional overlay template/analog comparator combinations. vCAD also eliminates the expense and storage requirements demanded by traditional overlay charts, and since the most recent CAD files are used, inspection/measurement is performed with the latest engineering information," said the spokesperson. If fully automatic measurement is required, optionally-available Measure-X 2-D metrology software can provide it.

A QVI Floor Model c-vision may be seen in Booth E-135602. It will be running side by side with a similar size traditional optical comparator, so visitors may compare and contrast the two different technologies.
