Software and Services Offered Free to Students, Educators, Researchers

MachiningCloud offers its software and cloud services at no cost to students, educators and researchers for use in non-commercial, classroom and lab activities. In addition, MachiningCloud has prepared curriculum for four courses that is freely available to educators for use in classrooms and labs.

"MachiningCloud's mission in education is to help promote manufacturing as a challenging and rewarding career, and to help advance education in manufacturing so that students are well prepared to utilize the latest software and other digital tools available to manufacturers," said a company spokesperson.

"Bridging the gap between physical cutting tools and digital software, MachiningCloud embodies the latest Industry 4.0 principles and produces significant productivity gains versus traditional approaches to cutting tool selection while also removing the burden of manually typing tooling data into CAD/CAM software," said the spokesperson.

The four course curriculum offered for instructors is:

1. Introduction to Turning Tools and their Application: Identification and application of cutting tools for turning

2. Introduction to Selecting Turning Tools: Important decisions for selecting cutting tools for standard turning operations

3. Introduction to Milling Tools and their Application: Identification and application of cutting tools for milling

4. Introduction to Selecting Milling Tools: Important decisions for selecting cutting tools for standard milling operations.
