The MCV 400 has a stable base and column construction. It is built to minimize vibration with its low-centered box structure and rigid one piece, cast iron bed allowing for high speed machining with precision. It has a wide guide way saddle construction to prevent table overhang with a wide interior working space. X-axis travel is 30.3", Y-axis travel is 16.9" and Z-axis travel is 20.1". This machine is capable of precision machining of heavy workpieces up to 1,100 lbs. on an 18" x 36" table. "All axes are of a cross roller, linear guide type which allows for more rigid and accurate machining than the more common linear ball guide type," said a company spokesperson. Built-in dual chip screw conveyors are standard.
The spindle features a maximum spindle speed of 12,000 RPM, 20 HP and 86.8 ft.-lbs. of max spindle torque. A Big Plus spindle that allows simultaneous dual contact for more rigidity is standard. The spindle is supported by four P4 class high precision angular ball bearings. Thermal expansion is minimized through the use of a spindle head cooling system that circulates cooled oil around the spindle bearings. This helps prevent thermal displacement and provide high accuracy cutting. The spindle oil cooling system is a standard feature on the MCV 400. Through the spindle coolant with 290 PSI is also standard.
Utilizing a twin arm type tool changing system and a 30 tool capacity tool magazine with a short distance moving system provides a high speed tool change system with a short tool-to-tool change time.
The FANUC 0i-MD features a 10.4" color LCD screen, 90 degree pivoting operator panel and supports a wide range of alarm messages for both the machine and control. This control also allows conversational programming.
